Vinous Media: 91 Points Bright ruby-red. Ripe red berry and floral pastille aromas, given vibrancy by suggestions of blood orange and allspice. Gently sweet and penetrating, offering lively raspberry and cherry flavors underscored by a smoky mineral note. Shows very good energy and focus on the subtly tannic finish, which leaves behind notes of candied lavender and bitter cherry. Generally speaking, though, the Vieilles Vignes cuvée and wines are made with some of the oldest vines of one’s estate. Depending on the region, old vines can be 35-40-45-50 years old in cooler areas of France like in Bordeaux or Burgundy, while in the South where it’s drier and vines can age much further, Vieilles Vignes can designate vines that are 60, 80, or even 100 years old.
