Tim Atkin 95 point Situated just over the Vosne/Nuits border opposite Les Malconsorts, this is one of my favourite Nuits Premiers Crus, alongside Les St Georges and Les Boudots. Plush, rich and full of purpose, it's velvety and sweet on the palate, with spicy blackberry and black cherry fruit and chalky zip. 2018-26 . Wine Advocate-Parker : 92-94/100 Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes was mightily impressive from barrel. That said, here it did not quite fire on all cylinders. It has a rather oaky bouquet at the moment, although underneath lies some attractive red berry fruit. It feels a little leathery. The palate is fleshy and soft, some dry wood tannin here that tends to dominate the finish and leave it feeling rather generic. I think it is just suffering a dumb phase and fluffed its lines under blind conditions. Tasted September 2016 By Allen Meadows Jan-15, Issue #57, 90-92 points (Domaine de la Vougeraie Nuits St. Georges "Les Damodes" 1er Cru Red) Noticeable wood borders the spicy aromas of plum, dark currant, earth and discreet floral scents. There is excellent volume to the intense medium-bodied flavors that also possess a relatively refined mouth feel before concluding in a lingering and well-balanced finale. This isn't quite as refined as the Clos de Thorey but it is slightly more complex and more structured. A qualitative choice even though the two wines are quite different.
