People often referred this wine as declassified Latour. Ulysse Cazabonne is a negociant house of Bordeaux, cellaring and distributing for some of the region’s top wineries, whilst producing their own wines. Ulysse Cazabonne Pauillac is declassified Chateau Latour wine, while Ulysse Cazabonne Margaux is declassified Chateau Margaux wine, both of which are available in the UK for less than £20 per bottle. A real bargain compared to the more illustrious chateau producers. After two exceptional vintages – 2009 and 2010 – 2011 was awash with rain, hail and heat waves when cool weather was expected. A disappointing vintage, the wines from this year need to be chosen with care. Ulysse Cazabonne Pauillac 2011, however, is a fantastic purchase. Fresh blackcurrent and plum fruits predominate, while liquorice and cedar notes add depth. Tannins are in abundance here; I suggest dacanting for at least an hour being serving. The wine will benefit from cellaring for a few years. - My Wine Journey Label and Notes: Web
