+ NOTE: Lynch bages no longer offer this wine in market now. Owned by the Cazes family of Lynch bages, Chateau Cordeillan Bages is both the name of a hotel and a wine (no longer in productiion now). The hotel is a member of Relais & Châteaux. The wine was from a plot very close to hotel and was made into wine by the same team at Lynch Bages. The wine was from a small plot close to the hotel and was made by the same team in Lynch Bages. The production is small and mainly served in the restaurant of Chateau Cordeillan Bages Located at the entrance to Pauillac in the heart of the Bages plateau, this beautiful 18th century chartreuse is surrounded by a small vineyard of two hectares. Old mansion of a vintage already celebrated during the classification of the crus bourgeois of 1932, it was bought in 1985 by Jean-Michel Cazes, owner of the neighboring grand cru, Chateau Lynch-Bages. By attaching some parcels to the house, it is reborn a great wine whose reputation is today at its highest level. WINEMAKING: Once hand harvested and the alcoholic fermentation has completed, wines are drawn from the vats using the phenolic potential of each vat. Following the processes of maceration, drawing off, pressing and malolactic fermentation, blending then takes place. The first and second wines from Lynch-Bages are drawn off into split stave-wood oak barrels with optimum aromatic capacity, made by reputed barrel-makers, before being aged in our cellars. Before being enjoyed, they are required to rest for a period of time in order to soften out and fully integrate the aromas imparted from the oak. The winemaker's skilled craft involves regular racking and fining for harmonisation before the wines are bottled at the château and aged. TASTING NOTE: Rich but fresh nose of plums and blackcurrants, ever so slightly tarry, floral lift; juicy and supple palate, transparent, soft red berries, charming but surprisingly light after the impressive nose, bright but gentle phenolic grip, silky texture, fresh and well balanced; light but complete finish, good length.
